Match Report

Tamworth clinched their first win of the season with a dominant performance over Stafford.

Tamworth came out strong and it wasn’t long before some good play by James Whittaker and Zac Smalley which lead to an early goal by Elliott Birchall.  Tamworth weren’t able to maintain this lead long as shortly after Stafford would score an equaliser from open play.

Tamworth would push back and following a strong run from captain Andy McManus he slotted home a calm finish to put the town in front once again.

Half time 2-1

Tamworth then doubled their lead after Elliot Birchall scored his second following some strong wing play from Zac Smalley. Stafford would start a come back shortly after and pulled the score back to 3-2.  Tamworth pressed on and after being the target man for the majority of the game, Ben Bowyer slots it into the goal after taking it round the keeper to make the score 4-2. Stafford pressed Tamworth but were unable to capitalise on any attacking play. The final goal was scored following a solo run by Dylan Waldron who slotted the ball past the keeper to increase Tamworth’s lead. A strong and dominant performance by the whole team secured Tamworth’s first win.

Final score 5-2
