Match Report

Tamworth took on Beacon in the 2nd game of the weekend in hope of capturing 3 points.

Tamworth started with some strong midfield play between midfielders Graeme Cooke, Elliot Birchall and Andy MacManus which lead to some early chances that unfortunately didn't hit the backboard. Beacon fought back and took the lead early in the first half despite Tamworth's best efforts to defend.

Shortly after this Tamworth mounted a counter attack after some play from Ian Wagstaff from the back played the ball to Winger Carter Bradshaw who fed the ball into Elliot Birchall who managed to covert his chance and brought Tamworth level.

The lead was unfortunately short lived as Beacon took their chance and took themselves ahead once again. Beacon tried to double there lead but some quick reactions and strong saves from Goalkeeper James Miles kept Tamworth in the running.

Tamworth attacked once again as the ball was played to the far post but unfortunately Zak Smalley couldn't covert and it sadly went wide.

Beacon carried on with their attack and despite some solid defending from Dylan Waldron, James Griffin and Simon Bowyer, Beacon took a further lead and scored twice in quick succession.

Half time 4-1.

Tamworth changed formation in the second half and dropped to 3 at the back to push Ian Wagstaff upfront. The second half started strong with some close chances by both Ben Bowyer and Ian Wagstaff who rattled one slightly wide after some strong play from the offset.

Beacon pushed back and despite some further key saves from James Miles, beacon increased their lead to 5.

Tamworth didn't give up and pushed back hard. Simon Bowyer executed a full pitch pinpoint pass to son Ben Bowyer for him to turn and slot it past the keeper and add to tamworths goal tally.

Tamworth weren't able to covert any more chances and Beacon countered on the break and despite all of defence and midfield pushing hard to get back. Beacon slotted it into the goal, shortly followed by Simon Bowyer, who promptly got stuck in the back of the net.

The game finished 6-2 to Beacon despite a strong performance by Tamworth.
