Tamworth had to defend quickly with some fast pace attacking from Stone early on but some quick reactions from Goalkeeper James Miles kept Stone at bay just a while longer. Despite Tamworth best efforts Stone scored from a drag flick shirt corner and opened the scoring. A second attempt went unsuccessful as a strong save by James Miles kept the score 1-0. Stone responded shortly after however and in quick succession made the score 3-0.
Some close chances by forward Ben Bowyer, capped off by some good runs through the middle by Elliot Birchall and Andy MacManus showed that Tamworth still had some fight in them, unfortunately they were not able to convert any chances.
Half time 3-0
Tamworth pushed back hard in the start of the second half and persevered and created a few more chances but they unfortunately went just wide of the post. Stone pushed back and unfortunately scored again to take the score to 4-0.
Tamworth didnt lose faith as they pushed back hard and after a well worked play into the D, Captain Andy MacManus slotted home with a calm finish and got Tamworth onto the score sheet.
Despite some solid play from the midfield and some valient defending, Stone were able to add to their lead a further 3 times to end the game 7-1. Tamworth pushed hard in the final 10 minutes with some gone possession play and solid pressing play but we're unable to pull themselves back into the game.
