| Match Report | Tamworth faced local rivals Lichfield on Saturday coming away with a hard fought 2-1 win. Lichfield started the game strongly putting the town side on the back foot, but it was Tamworth who took the lead against the run of play when Becky Moore and Jo Goode combined well down the right flank to set up Claire Miles who saw her shot saved by the GK but Fiona Sinclair reacted quickly to follow up and slot the ball home. The town side did enjoy some better possession but the final pass let them down, as Lichfield continued to press forward looking for the equaliser Tamworth were grateful to GK Lisa Moore who made a number of excellent saves alongside Jess Thacker who also had a super game at left back making a number of vital tackles and clearances. Tamworth increased their lead when Jo Goode's brilliant cross was deflected into the Danielle Hill's path and she reversed flicked the ball into the net to send the town into the break 2-0 up. The second session saw Lichfield enjoy the greater share of possession as Tamworth struggled to find any rythmn to their play, Sam Bowyer cleared of the line twice with GK Lisa Moore continuing her excellent form with a number of saves but she was finally beaten leading to a tense final 10 minutes as the town hung on for the win.
